Alice Laverne Payne

Funeral services for Alice Laverne Payne, age 84, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery. Rev. Matt Haywood will officiate. Ms. Payne was born on May 18, 1937, in Chauncey Georgia. She was an awesome "Mema", godly wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved music, gardening, cooking, and reading to her great grandchildren. She loved her church, Dudley Baptist Church, but most of all Jesus. Ms. Payne was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Alma Peacock, brother, Robert Peacock, and her husband, Wilburn Bailey Payne. Ms. Payne passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at her residence. Ms. Payne is survived by a son, David Mark (Jan) Payne of Donaldsonville, 2 daughters, Debra Sue (Glenn) Jackson and Alma Lucille (Tommy) Sheffield of Montrose, brother, Stephen (Judy) Peacock of Chauncey, sisters, Sue Coleman of Chauncey, Janette Johnson of Hawkinsville, and Vanelle Callaway of Hazlehurst, sister-in-law, Hanna Peacock of Warner Robins, 3 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and close friend, Mary Kathryn Alligood. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Donnie Reeves, Alan Baggett, Jacob Sheffield, D.T. Payne III, Chuck Haywood, and Sam Reeves. Donald Alligood will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
