Funeral services for Mrs. Anita Gail Fortner, age 60, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Kite First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Burton Dixon will officiate.
Mrs. Fortner was born August 9, 1957 in Albany, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the Hubert Howard Aulday and Mavis Gervaise Aulday. She was a member of the Kite First Baptist Church and was retired after 36 ½ of service as a Director with the Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany. In honor of her service, an American flag representing her dedication and faithfulness was flown over the United States Capitol. Throughout her career she was awarded and received numerous awards and recommendations. Mrs. Fortner passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Otis Lewis "Lewie" Fortner II of Wrightsville, her son, Rick (Maribel) Hambric, Jr. of Leesburg, her daughter, Amanda (Will) McGuire of Camilla, a step-son, Lewis (Beth) Fortner of Dublin, a sister, Debbie (Andy) Kohler of Canton, four grandchildren, Tucker McGuire, Alexa Sanchez, Hanna Meacham, Briggs Fortner and expecting Baby McGuire, September 2018, and one great-grandchild, Mila Rose Buelna, She is also survived by two caregivers, Lynda Rayoum and Jessica Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Kite Baptist Church.
A memorial service will also be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday, June 29, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7053 Georgia Highway 112, Camilla, Georgia 31730 with a visitation starting at 4:00 P.M.
