Audrey Elizabeth Cook Calabro (38) went home to be with her Savior and Lord on October 15, 2019. She was born on October 13, 1981 in Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Calabro of Chepachet, Rhode Island; her parents, Harry and Jo Ann Cook of Dublin, Georgia; her brother, Dayton Cook of Auburn, Alabama; her grandmothers, Virginia Davis of Tennille, Georgia, and Sybil Cook of Birmingham, Alabama; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a member of Renaissance Church in Providence, Rhode Island and Dudley Baptist Church in Dudley, Georgia.
Her life was a daily illustration of the power of God to make the impossible possible. A serious congenital lung condition progressed to a medical diagnosis of total disability when she reached the age of 13. Yet she competed in equestrian events, winning places in hunt seat competitions; and played the flute, winning numerous awards in high school music competitions. Having studied ballet from an early age, she danced with the Andalusia Ballet in Andalusia, Alabama, throughout her high school years and was awarded a dance scholarship to the ballet program of Birmingham Southern College. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Dance. She was employed by Health South in Birmingham, Alabama; Gold Chiropractic in Acworth, Georgia; and Radney Chiropractic Clinic in Dublin, Georgia.
She received a double lung transplant on September 6, 2014, and on November 4, 2017, she married the love of her life, Kevin Calabro. Her most fulfilling vocation was that of wife and homemaker. She was an advocate for organ donation, animal rescue, and adoption of children. But her passion and mission in life was to lead others to Jesus, the One who gave her strength to do things that medical science deemed impossible for her. And above all, she wished for everyone to know that He provides the way for all who trust Him to join her in a glorious eternal home with Him in heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 23, at Marie Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 22 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Stanley Funeral Home in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dudley Baptist Church Adoption Fund in Audrey's honor.
