Ava Jean West

Ava Jean West, age 76, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Dublinair Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dublin, Georgia. Ms. West was born on November 10, 1940 in Douglas, Georgia and other than a few years spent in Waycross lived most of her life in Dublin, Georgia. She worked in banks and taught school and was a graduate of Valdosta State University with both Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education. She taught special education at East Laurens and West Laurens schools until her retirement and was a dedicated educator who loved children and teaching. Ms. West was preceded in death by her mother, Lois West, her father John West, and one son, Matthew Ulery. Survivors include sisters, Brenda Taylor of Waycross and Kay Swann of Brunswick, a nephew, John Taylor (Ann) of Eugene, Oregon, and numerous other relatives in the Waycross, Blackshear, and Brunswick areas. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.
