Barbara Jane Long

Barbara Jane Long, age 90, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Serenity Place Hospice. Mrs. Long was born on August 8, 1930 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Frederick Heckert and Laura Catherine Wert Heckert. She lived in Toomsboro and Dublin for 28 years having moved from South Paris, Maine. Barbara was a longtime volunteer at Fairview Park Hospital spending many hours in the "Pink Nook" gift shop. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert W. Long. They owned and operated the Thomas J. Finn Co., Inc. which manufactured shoe machinery. Barbara shared her love of music with many as a church organist and choir director. Her work with children's choirs gave her great pleasure and she was a devoted, loving "grandmom" to the Sasser family. Mrs. Long is survived her daughters, Peggy A. Crawford of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Ruth A. Prim of Dublin, her sister Audrey Candioto of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
