Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice McDonald Tanner, age 83, will be held at 3:00 Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Buckeye Christian Church with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Tom Jackson, Rev. Roger Holley, Rev. Danny Thomas, and Rev. Barry Clanton will officiate
Mrs. Tanner was born August 3, 1933 in Washington County; she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Horace Braxton Tanner, her parents, Joe and Beulah Lamb McDonald, two daughters, Glynda Kaye Tanner and Debra Hooks, a son, Horace Randall Tanner, a sister, Lizzie Mae Dixon and five brothers, Oscar McDonald, Clinton McDonald, George McDonald, Joseph McDonald and Gordon McDonald. She was a member of Buckeye Christian Church and was formerly employed as a seamstress from Apparelcraft, Crowntex and Buckeye Industries. She was also a private childcare provider and was a member of the Joy Club. Mrs. Tanner passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 following an extended illness.
She is survived by a son, Randy (Amy)Tanner of Wrightsville, five daughters, Judy Faye (Herschel) Phillips of Wrightsville, Margie Sue Tanner of Wrightsville, Connie (Dale) Foskey of Milledgeville, Cindy (Donald) Peebles of Kite and Christy (Curt) Mayo of Wrightsville, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Tanner of Kite, 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Buckeye Christian Church.
Pallbearers will be Brack Tanner, Bryan Hooks, Robert Phillips, John McAfee, Curt Mayo, Tanner Peebles, Christopher Mayo and Hunter Braxton Tanner.
Honorary escorts will be former Pastors of Buckeye Christian Church and employees of Washington County Extended Care Facility.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks, that contributions be made to the Buckeye Christian Church Building Fund, c/o Judy Phillips, 2606 New Buckeye Road, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
