Funeral services for Bettie Jane (B.J.) Cash, age 68, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bobby Hutto will officiate, assisted by Ms. Cash's brother, Ret. Chaplain William Charles Shelnutt, IX.
Ms. Cash was born on March 3, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late William C. and Leila Jane Cobb Shelnutt. The many accolades for Ms. Cash include becoming a Debutante, serving as President of the Palm Harbor, FL Chamber of Commerce 1985-1987, Honorary Mayor of Palm Harbor, Grand Marshall of the Palm Harbor Parade 1987 & 2003, and Palm Harbor Woman of the Year 1988. She was most proud of becoming a Master Gardener with the Dublin Garden Club. She retired as clerk for the City of Dublin. Ms. Cash passed away surrounded by her loved ones in Macon after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
B.J. is survived by her daughters Mary (James) Garew of Dublin and Karyne (Mitch) McCooley, her sons Charles (Christina) Moloney of Tampa, FL and James (Sami Jo) Cash of Atlanta, her brothers William (Cheri) Shelnutt, Robert (Stevie) Shelnutt, and Jerry (Cheryl) Shelnutt, and her grandchildren Ryan, Destiny, and baby Anna Jane (due to arrive May 2017), as well as several other loving family members.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Shelnutt, Charles Moloney, James Cash, Ryan Garew, Jim Garew, and Mitch McCooley.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Dublin Stanley Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, at cancer.org/donate, in memory of BJ Cash.
