Funeral services for Mr. Buford Jordan Pollett, age 83, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Moore's Chapel United Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Mr. Michael Bland, Rev. Kenneth Watkins and Rev. Scott Osborne will officiate.
Mr. Pollett was born July 8, 1932 in Johnson County; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late William Owen Pollett, Sr. & Lillie Dell Price Pollett and three brothers, William Owen Pollett, Jr., Carlos Ashley Pollett and Marion Rayford Pollett. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Navy. He was retired from J.P. Stevens-Forstmann as a foreman and was also a farmer. He was a member of Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church, American Legion Post # 44, Johnson County Young Farmers and the Washington County Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Pollett passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Boyd Pollett of Wrightsville, a son, Buford Boyd (Fidelia) Pollett, two granddaughters, Izabella and Agatta Pollett all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a brother, Delma Eugene (Pauline) Pollett of Cartersville, two sisters, Katherine Lauren (Mark) Morgan of Ludowici and Mary Dell (Roger) Thornton of Camilla, an uncle, Fermon Rachels of Wrightsville and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Pollett, William Pollett, Mark Pollett, David Pollett, Patrick Pollett, Ashley Pollett and Jay Hewitt.
Members of Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pine Hill United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #44, his Friday night music buddies, his military buddies, former employees of J.P. Stevens-Forstsmann, former classmates of the Wrightsville Class of 1952, and his breakfast club buddies from Jet Food Store and Wendy's will all serve as honorary escorts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions, in memory of Mr. Pollett, be made to Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Elizabeth Pollett, 1330 Power Line Road, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096 or to the charity of your choice.
