Charles "Chuck" Malcolm Harwell

Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Malcolm Harwell, age 60 were held privately Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Cliff Morris officiated. Mr. Harwell was born March 18, 1960 in Rome, Georgia. He has lived in Laurens County since 1973. He was the President and CEO of the Community Bank of Dublin-Laurens County. Chuck has been in banking since 1994. He had an extensive background in community- based consumer and commercial lending, credit analysis, marketing, and overall bank operations. Prior to his banking career, he worked 10 years with the Georgia Department of Revenue. In addition to completing his undergraduate degrees in Business Management and Accounting at Georgia College, he completed further professional educational programs at The University of Georgia's Graduate School of Banking, Louisiana State University's Graduate School of Banking, as well as numerous overall continuing education classes through Community Bankers Association, Georgia Bankers Association and American Bankers Association. Chuck was a member and past President of the Dublin Exchange Club, and has served on the Georgia Bankers Association's Executive Committee, as well as the Community Bankers Association Board of Directors for over 10 years. He also chaired numerous committees with Community Bankers Association, was a winner of the Dublin-Laurens Chamber of Commerce Membership Drive Award, and served as an Ambassador for the Chamber. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dublin. Mr. Harwell passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. Mr. Harwell is survived by his wife, Robin Harwell of Dublin, his parents, Raymond and Frances Harwell of Dublin, two sons, Corey and Caleb Harwell of Atlanta, two stepsons, Brian Hughes of Texas and Evan Hughes of Dublin. He is also survived by a sister, Cindy (Kevin) Corbin of Dublin, an aunt, Evelyn Collier of Cedartown, a niece, Sarah (Michael) Edge of East Dublin, a nephew, C.J. (Samantha) Corbin of Dublin, two great nieces, Olivia Edge and Harper Corbin, and four special fur babies, Boss, Remi, Bella, and Dingo. Pallbearers were Brian Bazemore, Sam Beal, Butch Hampton, Randy "Rat" Hampton, Brant New, and Dr. Monty Shuman. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mr. Harwell to Promise of Hope at P.O. Box 321, Dudley, Georgia 31022, or to The Gideons International at P.O. Box 27, Dublin, Georgia 31040. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
