Funeral services for Mr. Charles W. Howell, age 83, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 15, 2015 at the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. Mr. Thurmon Foskey and Rev. Jody Martin will officiate.
Mr. Howell was born April 16, 1932 in Dublin, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late John W. Howell and Hessie Lee Heath Howell and two sons, Ronnie Bruce Howell and Charles Otis Howell. He served in law enforcement for 53 years before retiring from Washington County Sheriff's Department. He was a former motorcycle officer for the City of Dublin Police Department and was formerly the Chief of Police for East Dublin Police Department and Wrightsville Police Department. Mr. Howell passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Myrle Howell of Sandersville, a son, Tommy Lee Howell of Dublin, nine grandchildren, Steven (Roxannea)Howell, Samantha Howell (Adam) Denham, Marie Howell Adams, Michael (Samantha) Howell, Mitchell (Teresa) Howell, Michelle (Brent) Herndon, Wes (Mandi) Howell, Jason Howell and Kristy (Charles) Gregory, 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mark McGraw, Jay Etheridge, Trey Burgamy, Eric Burgamy, Brandon Kennedy, Paul Jackson, Regina Walton and Jerome Hall.
Employees of the Washington County Sheriff's Department, Sandersville Police Department and the Tennille Police Department will serve as honorary escort.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
