Charles Clayton Smith, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after a brief illness. He was 57 years old.
Born on July 23, 1968, in Dublin, Georgia, Mr. Smith was the cherished son of the late Charles Clayton Smith, Sr. and Priscilla Jane Maddox Stanton. Throughout his life, he carried forward the values instilled by his family and community, embracing a strong work ethic and deep commitment to those closest to him.
Mr. Smith dedicated his career to the trucking industry as a self-employed truck driver, demonstrating both independence and resilience. His professional life was marked by determination and a steadfast dedication to his work, qualities that earned him respect among peers and clients alike.
He is survived by his five siblings: Philip Smith, Michelle Fields, Chad Smith, Charlene Smith, and Christina Smith. Their enduring bond reflected the close-knit family ties that were a cornerstone of his life.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Smith will be cremated, and a private service will be held at a later date, surrounded by family members. The family extends their gratitude to all who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time.
