Charles Kenneth Starkey

Funeral services for Charles Kenneth Starkey, age 71, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Sandersville Community Church with Pastor Michael Buettner and Rev. Scott Ferguson officiating. A private burial with military honors will follow in Zeta Cemetery. Mr. Starkey was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on April 20, 1949 to Rex Francis Starkey and Bessie Wright Starkey. Kenn retired with over 20 years of service in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a BA in religious studies and graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Theology. He was a member of the Sandersville Community Church and a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Kenn passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in the Augusta University Medical Center. In addition to his parents his is preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann Nicholson. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Hammett Starkey of Sandersville, his son, Charles Kenneth (Leslie) Starkey of Raymore, MO, sisters, Brenda Starkey Woolsey and Carol Davis of Fayetteville, brother, Mark Nicholson of Fayetteville, and grandchildren, David Charles Starkey and Kayla Martin Starkey. Pallbearers will be Joseph Picaso, Aaron Rainey, Gerard Vermillion, Michael Brantley, and Chris Clay. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. prior to the service. Social Distancing guidelines will be in effect, and seating capacity may be limited. All attendees will be required to wear a mask during the service. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
