Cleo Elizabeth Cavaness Keen (Cleo), age 95 died peacefully at her Dublin home on Friday, October 28, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory. Dr. Joel Dent, and Rev. Wes Moye of her church, Pine Forest United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Mrs. Keen, a native of Benton, Illinois, was a graduate of the School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She came to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center while serving as a Navy Wave during WWII. In Dublin, she met and married the love of her life, T.C. Keen, Jr... After retiring from a long career as a nurse at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, she enjoyed volunteering at the Laurens County Library.
Cleo is survived by her devoted great nephew, nephews, and nieces, David N. (Ginny) Polhill of Dublin, William Harvard Keen of Texas, Taylor (Diane) Keen of Texas, Mike (Kris) Cavaness of Thompsonville, Illinois, Sula Harvard Keen (Wayne) Altman of Savannah, Elizabeth Keen (Jim) Polhill of St. Simons, and Colwell Ann Cook of Washington DC.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Linnie M. and C. J. (Bill) Cavaness, and by a brother, James M. Cavaness.
Cleo was blessed with wonderful caregivers, Marian Smith, Sarah Knight, and Linda Reynolds, and the wonderful nurses of Southern Care Hospice Services. She looked forward to her daily visits from her faithful mail carrier Victor Johnson.
