Funeral services for Mr. Daley Powell, age 81, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 16, 2016 at Brown memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Donnie Baker will officiate.
MMr. Powell was born August 1, 1935 in Wrightsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert Roy Powell and Nellie Irene Sammons Powell, his wife, Mary Belcher Powell and two brothers, Roy Lynward Powell and Robert Wayne Powell. He was a member and former deacon of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Rusty Relics Antique Tractor Club, the Johnson County Young Farmers and he loved cabinet work. Mr. Powell served the citizens of Johnson County as Clerk of Courts before retiring after 26 years of service. Mr. Powell passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 following an extended illness.
He is survived by two sons, Rex (Wendy) Powell and Ricky (Susan) Powell of Wrightsville, a brother, Harry (Kay) Powell of Sautee Nacoochee, four grandchildren, Mathew Powell, Miranda New, Mandy Powell and Krystal Tanner and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Edd Tanner, Alan Frost, Anthony Frost, Roy Powell, Dean Mosher and Wayne Ivey.
Patricia Glover, Debra Hall, Mary Jo Buxton, Betty Jo Price, Jimmy Blizzard, Harvey Blizzard and Joe Sumner will serve as honorary escort.
