David Henry Martin

Funeral services for David Henry Martin, age 69 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Kite City Cemetery. Rev. Ricky Downs, Rev. Arthur Conley, and Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Mr. Martin was born January 19, 1952, in Swainsboro, Georgia. He was the son of the late Hines Martin Jr. and Christine Kight Martin. He was the owner of Martin Farms. He was a charter member for 53 years at Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of the Swainsboro Shrine Club for 31 years where he served as the 1999 President. He was a Master Mason for the Swainsboro Lodge #244 for 31 years. He was a former member of Johnson County Young Farmers. He was awarded Man of the Year in Soil and Water Conservation in 1992. He was a County Committee Board Member of the Johnson County ASCS Office. In 1996, he gained the title Papa. His joy came from spending time with his nine grandchildren. Mr. Martin passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Scott Health and Rehab. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Denise Copeland Martin of Kite, children, Kristi Martin (Vince) Coleman of Meeks, Regina Martin (Hoss) Gay of Pickens, SC, Garrison (Caroline) Mimbs of Wrightsville, and Bethany Mimbs (Phillip) Crawford of Wrightsville, a sister, Patricia Martin (Grayson) Webb of Griffin, and 9 grandchildren, Caitlan Coleman (Gordon Nail), Hollan Coleman, Emily Gay, Emory Gay, Marie Gay, Christene Gay, Carter Mimbs, James Mimbs, and Mattie Crawford. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be M. T. Riner, Chris Hood, Danny Fortner, Eddie Henry, Johnny Colston, David McNeely, Willie James, and Mike Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Swainsboro Shrine Club. Honorary escorts will be Larry Bell, Gary Spence, Billy Overstreet, Patrick Sweet, Johnny Tapley, William Riner, Albert Hall, Bruce Kirby, Ronnie Spence and Greg Newsome. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of arrangements.
