Dennis W. Dixon, Sr.

Mr. Dennis W. Dixon, Sr., 80 of LaGrange, GA passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.


Mr. Dixon was born August 15, 1943 in Macon, GA, son of the late Wade Aaron Dixon and Winifred Shepard Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country from 1960-1964. He was a graduate of Valdosta State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Mr. Dixon was employed with the State of Georgia, Department of Public Safety in 1965 as a State Trooper for 34 years until his retirement at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of the Elm City Masonic Lodge #544 and the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club GA #XVBIII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Carolyn Marchman Dixon; his brothers, Freddie E. Dixon (Shelley), Carlas F. Dixon, and sister, Emogene D. Clements.


Survivors include his children, Glynis Eason (Nick), Dennis W. Dixon, Jr. (Amanda), and Christopher E. Dixon (Michelle); granddaughter, Ashlea Eason; sisters, Jo Ann D. Scarbrough, and Martha W. Dixon; brother-in-law, Edgar Clements; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.


A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2023 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA. The gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family respectfully ask that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
