Derrick Jason Gilbert

A public visitation for Derrick Jason Gilbert, age 31was held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 22, 2021 at the residence of Angela and Steve Difazio at 839 Campground Road, Dublin, GA 31021. A memorial service to honor Mr. Gilbert's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Laurens County Sportsman's Club. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mr. Gilbert to Promise of Hope at 1257 Wayne Road, Dudley, Georgia 31022 or to Free Hart Men's Life Recovery at 446 West Plum Street, Jessup, GA 31545. Mr. Gilbert was born October 17, 1989 and was a native of Laurens County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Emory Gilbert, his grandfather, Malcolm "Mac" Lyles, Jr. Mr. Gilbert passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Fairview Park Hospital. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his mother and stepfather, Angela and Steve Difazio of Dublin, a son, Briar Gilbert of Claxton, a maternal grandmother, Shirley Lyles of Dublin, 3 brothers, Anthony (Cynthia) Gilbert of Jesup, Jordan Difazio of Dublin, and Luke Difazio of Dublin, and 2 sisters, April (Jason) Sharp of Dublin, and Ashley (Jeremy) Ballard of Dublin. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
