Donald Thurston Bailey

Funeral services for Donald T. Bailey, age 89, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 15, 2021, in the Richard N. Stanley Jr. Memorial Chapel with Rev. Stephen Robinson and Mr. Thurmon Foskey officiating. Mr. Bailey was born September 27, 1931, in Johnson County. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict. Mr. Bailey resided in the Atlanta area from the 1950's to the early 1990's and retired from Northwest – Delta Airlines. He then moved back to his hometown of Wrightsville. He was a member of the American Legion and the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene. He loved his Lord, his family, and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Thurston (Myra) Bailey and Marie Rowland Bailey, a brother, William W. Bailey, sisters, Marvette Bailey and Louneal Cordry, and daughter, Tonya Frost. Mr. Bailey passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, in Emanuel Medical Center. He is survived by his daughters, Teri R. (Gary) Quick of Jonesboro, Melanie (Norris) Deyton of Brooks, and Donna J. (Wade) Chapman of Jackson, son-in-law, Brad Frost of Jonesboro, sister, Gloria B. Harrelson of Wrightsville, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M on Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Beddington, Norris Deyton, Brad Frost, Stanley Clements, Charles Young, and Bill Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Brevyn Sutton, Sarah Sutton Lewis, Sharon Sutton, Chelsey Sutton, Charles Sutton, and Nadine Smith. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
