Donald Timothy Smith, age 64, of Wrightsville, received his heavenly reward Tuesday, July 12 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones, after an extended illness.
Tim was born February 15, 1958 in Dublin, GA to Don Smith and Darthy Stephens Grant. He attended East Laurens High School.
He was a member of Union Grove Calvary Holiness Church in Wrightsville, GA. Before his illness he was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and a Piney Mount Volunteer fireman. He also had a great love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Tim worked as a deputy sheriff in Laurens and Johnson County before retiring. He was the first school resource officer at East Laurens Schools. He had a passion to help young people succeed. He was also an electrician and all around handy man. His grandson, Jacob, says, "My papa can fix anything!"
Tim is proceeded in death by his father, Don Smith, mother, Darthy Stephens Grant, stepfather, Morris Grant, and half-sister Donnette Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marsha Johnson Smith, two daughters, Wendy Smith and Lori Rogers (Neal), granddaughter, Laila Rogers, grandson Jacob Grant Rogers, all of Wrightsville. Two sisters, Donna Rhoten (James) of Greenville, SC and Darlene Daniel (Kenny) of Dublin.
Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Stanley Funeral Home in Wrightsville.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 15, 2022 at Union Grove Calvary Holiness Church.
Rev. Donnie Morris, Rev Jim Yeomans and Rev. Brent Morris will officiate the service. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Veal, Michael Morris, Scott Stephens, Lee Duggan, Seth Yeomans and Isaiah Yeomans.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Day, Rudolph Merritt, Ron Bray, Thelmon Crabb, Sid Harrison and Shawn Wombles.
The family will gather at the family residence at 350 Bray Road, Wrightsville, GA. The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for the wonderful care and support they showed to us.
