Dora L. Hawkins

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Lerlene Hawkins, age 83, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Hugh Baxter and Rev. Ron Bracewell will officiate. Mrs. Hawkins was born January 14, 1936 in Cairo, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Edwin Bishop and Essie Myrtle Griffin Bishop, her husband, Bryan Hawkins and a brother, Jim Dean. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Mrs. Hawkins passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 in Statesville, North Carolina. She is survived by her children, Nell (Desmond) Josey of Harrison, Chris (Renee) Hawkins of Jackson, Jimmy Hawkins of Statesville, NC, Bobby (Kathy) Hawkins of Statesville, NC, Beth (Ronnie) Johns of Pringle, John (Winnie) Benson of Lakeland, FL, Judy (Scott) Koch of Ocala, FL and James Lee (Teresa) Benson of Bryson City, NC, a brother, B.W. Bishop of Thomasville, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the church. Pallbearers will be Daniel Josey, Joshua Josey, Chris Hawkins, Kenneth Josey, Bobby Hawkins and Jimmy Hawkins, Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
