Mrs. Doris Williams Shurling of Wrightsville Georgia died Friday June 9, 2017 after a brief illness. She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Shurling was born October 21, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the daughter of George and Inez Austin Williams. She graduated valedictorian from West Fulton High School in Atlanta. After graduation, she worked for Shell Oil as an administrative assistant. In 1943, she married Dickey Stribling Shurling at her parents' home in Atlanta Georgia. The family moved to Wrightsville Georgia in 1963 where Doris was a homemaker. She was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Wrightsville. She was a Den Mother of The Cub Scouts of America. Doris enjoyed cooking, reading and fishing.
She is survived by her son, Dickey (Christy) Shurling of Sandersville, two grandsons, Richard Shurling of Augusta and William (Kayla) Shurling of Macon and a nephew, Tredway (Nancy) Shurling of Macon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late George and Inez Austin Williams and husband, Dickey Stribling Shurling.
There will be a grave side service Monday June 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Reverend Stan Littleton, Sandersville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Visitation will be with the family at graveside.
