Funeral services for Dr. Everett Gordon King, M.D., age 79, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Dixon officiating.
Dr. King was born May 27, 1937 in Duncan, Oklahoma; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Everett Giddings King and Marjorie Ward Patterson. He was an active, involved and passionate member of Liberty Baptist Church of Dublin. A general surgeon with a career spanning over 45 years, Dr. King retired as Chief of Staff at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Dr. King served in the U.S. Army and was commanding officer of two different Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. He recently served 5 years with Mercy and Grace Ministries in Honduras. An avid international outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, Dr. King loved to be in the woods or on the water.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Lynne Thomas King of Dublin, two sons, Gordon "Gordy" King, Jr. of Huntsville, AL and Curtis King of Christianburg, VA, four daughters, Tracy Gilbeau of Jackson, MS, Kerin Flattery of Christianburg, VA, Michelle Vail of Pensacola, FL and Jodi Mannon of Roanoke, VA, a sister, Lianda Taylor of Raleigh, NC and grandchildren, Brittany Daniel, Brent Hutchinson, Brody Hutchinson, Brennen Hutchinson, Charlie Wallace, Brady Wallace, Austin Wallace, Will Flattery, Andrew Flattery, Everett King, III, Nathan King, Brandon King, Chris Patterson, Jacob Pettrow, Maura Turner, Garrett Turner, and Jordyn Turner.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. King wished for donations to be made to the Dublin Liberty Baptist Church Legacy Fund.
