Dr. Rickey Thomas Brantley, Sr.

Funeral services for Dr. Rickey Thomas Brantley, Sr., age 63, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 134 Abney Road, Cochran, Georgia with Dr. Lane Collins, Rev. Reese Sanders, Rev. Robert Rogers, Rev. Ferrell Morris and Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville. Dr. Brantley was born August 5, 1952 in Sandersville, Georgia but was raised in Johnson County. He was preceded in death by his father, the late R.T. Brantley. He was a graduate of Brewton Parker College, Criswell College, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Southern Baptist Seminary. He was a professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he taught Hebrew for 25 years. He was also a pastor/teacher who served the following churches: Nails Creek Baptist Church, Bay Springs Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church, Chaparral Baptist Church, Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, and Zion Baptist Church. Dr. Brantley passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence. Dr. Brantley is survived by his wife, Elaine Lumley Brantley of Cochran, his mother, Kathryn Blizzard Brantley of Wrightsville, a son, Rickey Thomas Brantley, Jr. of Nashville, TN, two daughters, Susan (Clark) Dailey of Dublin and Kati (Lew) Ayotte of Cochran, a brother, Andy (Karen) Brantley of Wrightsville and six grandchildren, Benedicte Ayotte, Arthur Ayotte, Gigi Ayotte, Levi Dailey, Luke Dailey and Noah Dailey. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Benji Coghlan, Matt Coghlan, Mitch Coghlan, Brantley Collins, Jim Ledford and Scott Stephens. Former staff members and deacons who served with Dr. Brantley are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 3939 Gentilly Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70126. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel have charge of funeral arrangements.
