Earl Calloway Troup

Memorial services for Earl C. Troup, age 87,will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, May 22,2016 at Brown Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Rogers will officiate. Dr. Troup was born April 2, 1928 in Irwin County. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late H.C.Troup Sr. and Nancy Peavy Troup; 2 brothers, H.C. Troup Jr. and Billy Ed Troup and his loving wife of 50 years, Latrelle Strickland Troup. He was a member of Brown Memorial Church in Wrightsville, Ga. Dr. Troup graduated from Fitzgerald High School; then graduated from North Georgia College, a military college at the time. He received his Pharmacy degree in 1950 from The University of Georgia. Dr. Troup served his country proudly, following graduation, in the US Army National Guard as an Armored Calvary Officer. He had a full career as a pharmacist, over 40 of those years of which was as owner of Troup Drug Company based in Wrightsville, Ga. Throughout his career there were no " 24 hr pharmacies". He was THE 24 hr pharmacy. He lovingly dedicated his life to the well-being of Johnson County 24/7, 365 for many years. He served as a preceptor for The University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy and over the years mentored many young pharmacists. He took immeasurable pride in the role he played in their development and watching them become leaders in their own communities. He proudly maintained an active pharmacy license until his death. He was an avid gardener, coin collector, and a member of the Wrightsville Masonic Lodge and other local civic organizations. Dr. Troup leaves 2 children and 3 grandchildren; Patti and Peter Drew (Matthew), of Gainesville, FL and Chris and Lisa Troup (Michelle & Allison), of Greenville, S.C. and many loving nieces & nephews. He had a very caring , kind heart & taught his children to follow their dreams & "do the right thing" in all situations. He had a strong work ethic, faith, Love of family and expressed altruistic generosity toward others. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in his memory to the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministry at www.gbchfm.org, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto,GA 30268 Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
