Edsel Parley Padgett

Edsel Parley Padgett, age 87, passed away at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia, on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born in Reidsville, Georgia, on August 21, 1938, to the late Parley and Elma Padgett of Glennville.

In addition to his parents, Edsel was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin, his twin brother, and Gerald.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Dewey); two sons, Mark and Brad (Stacy); grandchildren, Brett, Caleb, and Clay; great-granddaughter, Josie Rae; and his sister, Ramona Carlile of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Padgett was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he worked as a highway engineer.

Edsel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the land he had purchased for those pursuits. One of his greatest joys was watching the wildlife captured on his trail cameras. He especially enjoyed seeing the animals that visited his property and keeping up with them through his cameras.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Kyle Giddens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jefferson Street Baptist Church, 209 N. Jefferson Street, Dublin, GA 31021, in memory of Edsel.
