Edward Harold Sumner

Funeral services for Edward Harold Sumner, age 87 will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Sammy Hall will officiate.

Mr. Sumner was born March 10, 1939, in Johnson County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Joseph Archie Sumner and Allie Hutchinson Sumner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha G. Coleman Sumner and his son, Bobby Sumner. He was a self-employed carpenter and millwright worker. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter where he loved spending time enjoying the outdoors. He was man of deep faith. He always had a passion for helping others and lending a hand to anyone that needed help. He loved spending time cutting grass, but his greatest passion of all was spending time with his grandbabies. Mr. Sumner passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at his residence surrounded by family.

Mr. Sumner is survived by his 2 daughters, Angela Lowe of Augusta and Sherry Wilcher of Wrightsville; a son, Danny Sumner of Ackerman, MS; 3 brothers, Curtis Sumner of Soperton, Louis Sumner of Dublin, and Freddie Sumner of Milledgeville; a sister, Margaret Coleman of Scott; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Wilcher, Ryan Sumner, Ben Sumner, and Wesley Logue.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the funeral home.
