Emmie Veal Bray

Services for Emmie Veal Bray, 85, of Wrightsville will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located on Hwy319 of Wrightsville, Monday afternoon at 2p.m. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville. Mrs. Bray died Saturday morning at home, January 05, 2019 after an extended illness. Mrs. Emmie was born in Johnson County and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Veal and Lillie Waller Veal. She was married to her late husband, Edwin Kenneth Bray for 52 years. She was the valedictorian of her class at Wrightsville High School. Mrs. Bray, received her Bachelor, Masters and Specialist Education degrees at Georgia College in Milledgeville. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Johnson County/Wrightsville schools for 30+ years. After retirement she supervised student teachers for Georgia College for a number of years. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and served in numerous roles for many years. Emmie was an active member of the Johnson County Retired Educator Association. Survivors include three daughters, Angela Bray (Jimmy) Blizzard, Teresa Bray (Chris) Harvey, and Robin Bray (Anthony) Parker all of Wrightsville; son Edwin Kenneth Bray, Jr. of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Andrew (Kathryn) Harvey of Statesboro; Emilie (Nick) Kellogg of Spotsylvania, VA, and Geneve Parker of Wrightsville; and two great-grand-children, Kent and Marlie Kate Harvey of Statesboro. She is also survived by one brother, Tobie (Inez) Veal of Wrightsville, and two sisters-in-laws Nellie Veal of Wrightsville and Carllene Veal of Johns Creek. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Bray was blessed with many siblings that included the late: Kate Veal Ivey, Blanche Veal Powell, Ralph Veal, Ruby Veal Holland, Hazel Veal Kyzer, Richard Veal, Harry Veal, Ruth Veal Moorman, and Eloise Veal Ogburn. The family will receive friends and family at Stanley Funeral Home in Wrightsville, Sunday night, January 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Pallbearers will be: Van Moorman, Veal Moorman, Jay Owensby, Roge Starr, Hugh Veal, and Robert Veal. Honorary Pallbearers are: Members of Arlines and Bethel Methodist churches and Retired Johnson County Educators. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be sent to Bethel Building Fund in care of: Mrs. Alice Wood, 771 McAfee Rd., Wrightsville, GA 31096. Stanley Funeral Home of Wrightsville is in charge of arrangements.
