Graveside services for Emory Lewis Lake, age 80, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev Tommy Veal and Rev. Gregg Soles will officiate.
Mr. Lake was born February 13, 1940 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Herschel and Myrtle Warnock Lake. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Civitan club, member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church and a County Commissioner for 26 years. He was active in political, civic, and religious affairs of the community. He served as councilman of East Dublin, member of East Dublin Recreation Department, and teacher for the Methodist Youth Fellowship Class. He worked as Personnel Manager with J.P. Stevens and Company for 20 years and Personnel Manager with Bassett Furniture for over 25 years. He was Director of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce for 3 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Linda Lake, brother George Lake, and son-in-law Tim Pipkin. Mr. Lake passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
Mr. Lake is survived by a son, Dwayne (Gay) Lake of East Dublin, 2 daughters, Hersha Lake Pipkin of Savannah and Sheila (Kevin) Soles of Bishop, 7 grandchildren, Adam(Ashlynn) Lake, Krissie (Preston) Laird, Misti Lake, Shae (Randy) Deloach, Haley (Roy) Anderson, Charlee Lake, and Emily Soles, 4 great-grandchildren, Mary Leighton Laird, Madelyn Kate Laird, Owen Deloach, and Waylon Deloach.
Pallbearers will be Ted Calhoun, Jerry Calhoun, Donnie Baker, Bryan Rogers, Tim Aldridge and Glen Shiver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Warnock, John Sheppard, Zenus Thomas, Claude Vines, Buck Gale, Jim Chafin, Billy Kight, and Al Williams.
