Ethel Ann Kibler

June 9, 1934 — September 16, 2021

Ethel Ann Kibler, 87, died peacefully on the morning of September 16, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 9, 1934, to Louis Hampton Cook and Elizabeth Stuckey Cook in Rentz, GA, where she attended school and played basketball. She attended GSCW as an undergraduate, now Georgia College, and was a member of the first nursing school class to graduate from the Medical College of Georgia, where she met her future-husband, James Allen Kibler. Ethel Ann and Jim were married on August 29, 1957, and raised four children in Dublin, GA and their farm near Dudley called Turkey Briar. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, an avid reader, a dedicated duplicate bridge player, an energetic gardener, a passionate movie fan and a socially-active and philanthropic member of the Dublin community. She was a life-time member of the Womens Study Club, the Dublin Service League, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Christ Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild and as a member of the ECW [Episcopal Church Women]. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she was one of the early supporters for bringing hospice services to Laurens County. She is survived by her husband, Dr. James Allen Kibler; her four children, Janet Kibler, Allen Kibler, his wife, Donna, Jeff Kibler, his wife, Mary, and John Kibler; and her four grandchildren, Jamie Kibler, Lucas Kibler, Katherine Kibler and Anna Kibler. Ethel Ann's ashes will be interred in the Christ Church columbarium at a private family gathering sometime in the next month. When the COVID surge allows us to all safely gather inside, a celebration of life service will be held in the nave of Christ Episcopal Church where the Kibler family sat together for so many years. Plans for that celebration will be shared publicly when a date is decided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Laurens County Library. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
