Evelyn Mae Snell

Evelyn Snell, 80, of Wrightsville, GA went home to be with our Lord February 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on July 23, 1941, in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Edwin & Hilda Yorkey. She graduated in the class of 1959 from Ridley Park High School in Pennsylvania. Evelyn married the love of her life, Clyde "Sonny" Snell, in 1982 and lived all over the United States. They settled back in Clyde's hometown of Wrightsville in 1994. Evelyn was an avid reader and loyal supporter of the Harlie Fulford Library in Wrightsville. She enjoyed sewing and crafting, making many unique items throughout the years. Some of her beautiful creations included clothes for her family and dolls. She treated all animals as if they were her own and raised goats for many years. Her cats and dogs were among the chief joys in Evelyn's life. She also enjoyed spending time outside gardening in her flower beds. She was a member of the Corinth United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. Evelyn loved serving our Lord and Savior, and we know that she is rejoicing in His presence now. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and making precious memories with them. Evelyn is preceded in death by parents Hilda and Edwin, brother Vernon, and son Danny. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clyde Snell, brother Mirle (wife Maria,) son Samuel, daughter Monica Blanton (husband John,) grandson Daniel Blanton (wife Lauren,) granddaughter Katy James (husband Brett,) great-granddaughter Addison James, and a great-grandson on the way. A special thanks to her caregivers Cindy and Tammy as well as Pruitt Hospice. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Evelyn's name to the Harlie Fulford Library. Pallbearers will be Samuel Swavy, John Blanton, Daniel Blanton, Brett James, Doug Killingsworth, and Will Killingsworth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 28, 2022 in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel with burial in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Wes Webb will officiate. The services will be livestreamed at https://my.gather.app/remember/evelyn-snell The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
