Frances Jackson Gornto was born on August 25, 1942 in Treutlen County, Georgia. She graduated from Baldwin County High School, and married her husband George H. Gornto on December 22, 1962.
Service will be held Tuesday, May 10th, 2:00 p.m. graveside at Minter Baptist Church Cemetery on Bush Road.
Frances is preceded in passing by her parents John B. Jackson and Mamie Rowland Jackson; her brothers Eddie, Elmo, and Larry Jackson; her sisters Doris Janes, Louise Minter, Pearl Foskey, Sara Miller, and Sharon Jackson; and daughter Lisa Gornto Cauley.
She is survived by her husband George; brothers Edward, Haywood (Sara); sister Diane Parker; daughter Stefanie Burns (Robert), son-in-law Kelvin Cauley; grandchildren Kellie C. Arnold (Lee), James (Gatlin) Smalley (Shanna), Brett Cauley, and Karlie Smalley ( Samara ) great-grandchildren Mattee, Lukas, Liam Smalley, and Teddy Arnold; special niece Jeannie Lane; and her dog Tinker II.
Frances was a long-time member of the Pilot Club, Promise of Hope, and CASA. Through these organizations she worked to improve the lives of the people of Laurens County and met many life-long friends. For many years she met with and hosted her card club, filled with her best friends. Many of Frances' friends will remember her infectious sense of humor and the way she and her husband George could spin a tale of their past adventures, like tailgating at the Georgia-Florida games. She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and social grace.
She retired from Alexander Office Supply where she spent many happy years.
Frances was a member of Minter Baptist Church.
