Graveside memorial services for retired Major Frank Willis Sanders, age 89 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Northview Cemetery.
Mr. Sanders was born on June 8, 1928 in Tobinsport, Indiana. He was the son of the late John Franklin and Verna Ryan Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his two previous wives, Mary Jo Alexander Sanders and Jean Baxter Sanders. He has lived in Laurens County for the past 35 years. He was a retired Major for the United States Army. He served in Korea in the 1st Calvary Division. He was a pilot of helicopters and fixed aircraft. He served as a commanding officer of the 22nd Signal Group. He served in the Aviation section in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He served two tours of duty with the Second Signal Group Aviation in Saigon, Vietnam. He retired in 1967 with the following Decorations: Air Medal for support of combat ground forces, a Bronze Star and Second Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal for outstanding meritorious service against hostile forces in Vietnam. He was also retired from Daniels Construction.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Glenese Roberson Sanders of Dublin, a daughter, Patricia Sanders Revoir of Hilton Head, SC, a grandson, John Ryan (Lisa Greer) Sanders of Hilton Head, SC, great grandson, Landon Alexander Sanders, his extended family, daughter, Evelyn (Wayne Garrett) Milks Mobley of Dublin, 6 sons, Sonny (Helen Harper) Baxter of Dublin, Mike (Carol) Baxter of Panama, City, FL, Larry (Lorraine) Roberson of New Port Richey, FL, Mike (Debbie) Roberson of Dublin, Terry Roberson of Dublin, and Keith (Janet) Roberson of Dexter, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
