Services for Mr. Fred Williams Gilder 68, of Glenwood GA, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Glenwood GA. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery, Dublin GA. He passed away on August 4th at The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida after an extended illness. Fred was born on February 27, 1954, in Dublin Georgia. Fred was the son of the late R.T. Gilder Jr. and Nell W. Gilder. Fred was a 1972 graduate of Dublin High School, a 1976 graduate of Georgia College with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in 1982 with a Bachelor in Forestry. Fred's initial profession was working in the family business, Gilder Timber, Inc. After retiring from the timber business, he became an independent contractor/route owner for FedEx. He was currently working for the Georgia State Office of Rural Health as a Community Resource Assessor. Fred was married to Jeannie Carter Gilder in 1976, and they are the very proud parents of three girls, Anna, Abby, and Allie. Fred fondly bragged about his girls as the daddy to three and papa to four grand girls. Fred's grand girls Braxton Belle Richardson, Asa Avery, Hemi Peryea, and Chase Peryea were the joy of his life. Fred and Jeannie would have been married 46 years on Saturday, August 6th. Fred loved nothing more than to be surrounded by all of his girls. Fred not only loved family, but he also loved serving his community. Fred was a deacon for 42 years at Glenwood First Baptist Church in Glenwood, Georgia. He was a current member of the board of directors of the Little Ocmulgee EMC for 25+ years, a Trustee of Brewton Parker College, board member of the former Laurens County Hospital Authority, and served as the chair of the Laurens County Board of Registrars. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, R.T. Gilder Jr. & Nell Willams Gilder, and brother, R.T. Gilder III (Tommy). He is survived by his wife, Jeannie of Glenwood GA, daughters, Anna Gilder Richardson of Newnan GA (Jason), Abby Gilder McAllister of Dublin GA(Brandon), and Allie Gilder Peryea of Seabrook Texas (Ryan), grandchildren, Braxton Belle Richardson, Asa Avery, Hemi Peryea, and Chase Peryea. Sisters, Brenda Gilder Knight, Sandra Gilder Mallette (Ronnie), and Millie Gilder Spence along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the funeral home. Fred began the Food Ministry at Glenwood First Baptist in January of 2021.
