Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Webb Rowland, age 102, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow at Piney Mount United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Randy Parmer and Rev. Tim Tharp will officiate.
Mrs. Rowland was born April 19, 1914 in Johnson County; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late William Crawford Webb and Jessie Walker Webb, her husband, Ernest Melvin Rowland, a daughter, Barbara Foskey, two great-grandchildren, Joeli Thompson and Cameron Garnto, 10 siblings, Bernard Webb, Joe Webb, George Webb, Leslie Webb, Olan Webb, Horace Webb, Myra Bailey, Myrtice Kennedy, Mary Moye and Adell Smith, two sons-in-law, Edgar Soles and Herman Thompson and a grandson-in-law, Ernie Garnto. She was a member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church but also attended Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene. She was a founding member of the Joy Club and enjoyed spending her free time at the Johnson County Senior Citizens Center. She held many jobs during her lifetime in order to provide for her family but her main mission in life was being a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Rowland passed away Sunday August 7, 2016.
She is survived by her children, Ernest Jack Rowland of Florence, SC, Ronnie Spencer (Glynda) Rowland of Dublin, Jerry Walker (Stephanie) Rowland of East Dublin, Willette Rowland (Marvin) Thompson of Wrightsville, Molline Rowland Thompson of Adrian, Jean Rowland Soles of Wrightsville and Ernestine Rowland (Steve) Freeman of Dublin, 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Thurmon Foskey of Dublin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Marty Thompson, Bobo Thompson, Wendell Brantley, Keith Foskey, Russ Rowland, Eric Rowland, Jerrod Rowland and Andrew Freeman.
Her nieces, nephews and care-givers from Nightingale Hospice will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
