George Lewis Nowell

George Lewis Nowell passed to his heavenly home on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the age of 86. Born in Atlanta on March 28, 1936 to George and Ruth Nowell, Lewis grew up in Dublin and received a BS from Mercer University. Lewis had a diverse career and devoted his full and talented life as a faithful servant to Jesus Christ. His professional occupations included being a jet and helicopter pilot for the Air Force and in final retirement had started a successful business in the pool industry. Lewis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane. He was a devoted and adored father to his daughter Mandy Baker, sons, Mark, David and Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Robert. He is survived by brother Lester who lives in Colorado and his sisters Gina Nowell Holmes of California and Amelia Landsman living in Florida. Lewis was blessed as a grandfather and a great grandfather. Lewis thoroughly enjoyed his membership and fellowship at Dexter Baptist Church. After being cared for by Stanley Funeral Home he was interred at the Church's beautiful cemetery on Highway 338, having been officiated by Pastors Calvin Holcomb and Jeremiah Sluss. His wife Diane wishes to extend heartfelt love and appreciation to the members of Dexter Baptist for their amazing overflow of support and care, and for her neighbors loving care and attention.
