Funeral services for Glenda Blizzard Bailey, age 69 will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Sammy Hall will officiate.
Ms. Bailey was born on July 1, 1946 in Wrightsville, Georgia. She began her career at Southern Bell as a Phone Operator in 1967 and retired in 2006 as the first female lineman in Georgia. She was a member of Bell South Pioneers. She also worked part-time for the United States Post Office in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Ms. Bailey passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her daughter's home in Huntsville, AL following a long illness.
Ms. Bailey is survived by her parents, J. Willard and Tulleen Walden Blizzard, a daughter, April (Tracy) Bailey Lowery of Huntsville, a son, Brett (Christie) Ashley Bailey of Jacksonville, FL, , 2 brothers, Johnnie (Sue) Blizzard of Vidalia, and Jimmy (Angela) Blizzard of Wrightsville, 2 sisters, Teresa (Terry) Russell of Laurens, SC, and Cathy Herring of Wrightsville and 9 grandchildren, Adam (Courtney) Lowery, Sara Lowery, Kathryn Lowery, Brady Lowery, Bailey Lowery, Ethan Bailey, Nathan Bailey, Kayla Warren, and Ericka Bailey and one great-grandchild, Emmy Grace Lowery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Lowery, Brady Lowery, Bailey Lowery, Donald Blizzard, Bobby Blizzard, Ben Reece and Tony Stevens.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until 3:45 P.M. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the funeral home.
