Greg Manley

Services for Gregory “Greg” Lamar Manley, 58, of Dublin, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Liberty Church, 900 Hillcrest Pkwy. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the service. Pastor Nate Dooley will officiate.

Interment will follow the service at Pinehill Church, 725 Pinehill Road.

Greg was born Jan. 2, 1968, as the first baby in Laurens County that year after no births were recorded on New Year’s Day. He was the youngest of the five children of the late Sara and Earl Manley. Greg was a graduate of West Laurens High School, where he excelled at football and baseball. He attended Southern Polytechnic University and Georgia College & State University, where he tried out and made the baseball squads at both schools.

In high school Greg met the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Kellie Stokes. The couple have two children, son Landon and daughter Morgan, and just weeks ago celebrated the birth of their first grandchild, earning Greg a new title of “Papa G.”

Greg was a hard worker who built and operated a successful business, Manley Precast Inc. He loved his family deeply and was committed to his roles of provider and protector. Greg enjoyed playing golf, fishing, duck hunting and working the grill, especially at family gatherings. Greg and Kellie attended Liberty Church.

Greg passed away Tuesday night after a long but private fight against cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve Manley; his mother- and father-in-law, Sandra and Charles Stokes; and a nephew, Gordon Cartee III.

He is survived and missed by his wife, Kellie Stokes Manley of Dublin; son, Landon Kyle Manley of Dexter; daughter, Morgan Claire Whitaker (William) of Dublin; grandson, Charles Gregory Whitaker; brothers, Rodney Manley (Holly) of East Dublin and Russell Manley (Missy) of Augusta; sister, Tammie Cartee (Gordon) of Madison; sisters-in-law, Karon Amerson (Toby) and Kim Thomas (Kevin); numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; and a loyal friend group, “The White Truck Club.”

Pallbearers will be Aaron McDaniel, Eric Allen, Chris Woodard, Scott Mullis, Ashley Windham, Marshall Floyd, Ricky Mitchell, Chance Davis and Clay Lord.
