Graveside funeral services for Mr. Harold Stokes Jackson, age 88, will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 25, 2021 in the Boiling Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Barbara Nelson officiating.
Mr. Jackson was born the last child of ten children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Embree, Edward, Lake, and Paul, and his 3 sisters, Julia Love, Travis Heckle, and Jackie Smith, his sweetheart of 63 years, Betty Morgan Jackson and a son, Sammy Jackson. Mr. Jackson passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Fairview Park Hospital.
Mr. Jackson graduated from Brewton High School in 1950 and Abraham Baldwin in 1952 where he played basketball in the National College Tournament. After graduation he served 2 years in the Korean war. Following his time in the service he worked for J P Stevens/Forstmans as superintendent of the Dublin and Nathaniel Plant/Finishing Department. He enjoyed helping his wife in the yard where they received "Yard of the Month" in 2004. He was a member of Boiling Springs Methodist Church, where he was a song leader for many years.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his four children Joan Holmes of East Dublin, Stan (Ronda) Jackson of Camilla, Jan Jackson of Dublin, and Beth (Dee) Wicker of East Dublin, grandchildren Alicia (Derrick) Thigpen, Morgan (Jay) Thomas, Hillary (Clint) Edmondson, Heather Stewart, Kaley (Justin) Adams, Brooke (Jordan) Newsome, 8 great-grandchildren, two sisters Margie Chappell, and Sara Johnson of Dublin, two brothers in law Jerry (Donna) Morgan of Dublin and Deryle (Elaine) Morgan of Lizella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boiling Springs United Methodist Church Sunday School Fund.
