Born in 1936 in WV, Helen and former husband, Okey Maxwell Lancaster, raised a family in WV, then, Helen moved to Florida where she met her late husband Paul Terry 42 years ago. Helen became a resident of Adrian, Georgia 18 years ago when she and her late husband, Paul, retired. Even after retirement, Helen was an avid homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, baking, and sewing. She also liked to collect and refurbish antiques. Prior to moving to GA, she was a partner with her husband, Paul Terry, in their small successful construction business, where they worked together side-by-side for over 24 years. After retiring, they looked for a quiet, peaceful country lifestyle and found it in Adrian, Georgia, which has been their "home-sweet-home" ever since.
Helen was a woman of God who always had a positive attitude and a kind sweet demeaner. She was also a woman of courage and valor who spoke up and always encouraged others to do what was right and good for them. She loved helping people and was well known for cooking big dinners and inviting others who may be in need of a good hot home cooked meal. Helen was always willing to lend an ear to listen and a helping hand. Her nicknames were "Handy Helen" and "Big H". She was a hard worker and could fix about anything from bandaging a wound to building a house. Helen was a wealth of knowledge and she was loved by everyone who ever knew her. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Soperton, GA, who became her extended family. Helen loved her Church family, who were very supportive and compassionate throughout her long illness.
Through God's grace, Helen Lancaster leaves a long legacy of love, generosity, and kindness. She will be dearly missed.
Final arrangements (Cremation) will be handled by Stanley Funeral Home in Dublin. A celebration of life memorial service will be scheduled in the future for both Helen and her husband, Paul who passed away on 12/12/23. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Church of Christ, 199 Belk Street, Soperton, GA 30457.
