Herschel Edison Claxton

Funeral services for Mr. Herschel Edison Claxton, age 79, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Brown Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Hadden officiating. Burial to follow in Westview Cemetery. Mr. Claxton was born February 23, 1942, in Wrightsville, Georgia to the late Cecil Lovett Claxton and Nandell Blount Claxton. He worked as the Human Resources – Safety Director for Cecil Claxton Trucking and was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sawyer Claxton. Mr. Claxton passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his three daughters, Celete Boone (Donnie), Anna Claxton (Jeffrey McMiller) and Heather Arnett (John), brothers, Carlton Claxton (Jan), Nelson Claxton (Cindy), and James Claxton (Tracy), sisters, Celete Cherry (Tommy) and Livia C. Lindsey of Wrightsville, and grandchildren, Stella-Claire Boone, Alp Boone, Jamar McMiller and Gabe Arnett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Shawn Claxton, Marty Claxton, Josh Claxton, Carl Claxton, Will Brantley and David Hattaway, Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Taylor and Weldon Thomas. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
