Hershell Baker Hall

Funeral services for Hershell Baker Hall, 90, will be held at 11:00 A.M, Friday, February 10, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Westview Cemetery.


Mr. Hall was born on January 28, 1933, in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was a member of the United States Air Force for 20 years and was a member of the American Legion for 50 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Hershell liked to build birdhouses in his spare time and give them away to friends. He was known by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, doctors, nurses, church goers, and strangers as the bubble gum man. During his 20 years in the United States Air Force, he was stationed in England where he met his wife, Shirley. They traveled across the U.S. and England. He did basic training in San Antonio, Texas and was stationed at Hunter AFB in Savannah, Georgia, Glasgow AFB in Montana, Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, and Eielson AFB in Alaska. The family settled in Wrightsville, Georgia after he retired from the United States Air Force in 1973. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Newbenson and Elizabeth Claxton Hall and grandson, Matthew Allan Hall. Mr. Hall passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at his residence.


Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Hall of Wrightsville; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Hall Hilliard of Sandersville; two sons, John Stephen Hall (Debra) of Gray and David Allan Hall (Sue) of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Kelly B. Sanders (Kevin), Bubba Brantley (Sheryl), Kimberly B. Baucom (Dwaine), Patrick N. Brantley (Jenny), Chris W. Hall (Chelsea), Faith H. Summers (John), Amy L. Hall, Rebecca H. Starley (Matt) and Jonathan D. Hall (Rebekah) and great grandchildren, Easton Sanders, Ella Baucom, Wyatt Baucom, Nicolas H. Stark, Kylen Summers, Colten N. Brantley, Brayden Brantley, Camden Smith, Khloe Sanders, Kinsley Brantley, Aubrey Brantley, Jaxon Radetsky and Baker Starley; and brother-in-law, Roger Horsman (Julia) of Reading, England.


Pallbearers Kevin Sanders, Bubba Brantley, Dwaine Baucom, Patrick Brantley, Chris Hall and Jonathan Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Easton Sanders, Wyatt Baucom, John Summers and Matt Starley.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.


Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
