Irene Warren Cooper, 93, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on July 23, 2023. She was born on April 9, 1930, in Dexter, GA. Irene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Irene had a passion for helping others and dedicated much of her life to charitable work. Irene volunteered by knitting items for local charities and teaching children how to make birdhouses during summer camps. Irene also volunteered at Callaway Gardens, with her husband John in the butterfly center, and later on in the Callaway Memorial Chapel providing information to visitors to the Chapel.
Irene Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Cooper, her son, John W. Cooper, her parents, Annie Maud Mullis Warren and James W. Warren. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Kent) Northey, and daughter-in-law, Susan Cooper. Also, surviving are two grandchildren, Travis Cooper, and Courtney (Mark) Colgan, and two great-grandchildren, Jonah, and Erin Colgan, and her sister, Varela Brasselle.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Irene's life and honor her memory, Saturday, July 29, 2023. A visitation will be at Stanley Funeral Home, Dublin, GA from 9:45 to 10:45AM and a graveside service will be held at the Buckhorn Memorial Cemetery, Dudley, GA at 11:30AM. Reverend Grady Mimbs will conduct the service.
