James E. Garrett

Funeral services for Mr. James Elery Garrett, age 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Brown Memorial Baptist Church with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Randy Adams and Rev. Burton Dixon will officiate. Mr. Garrett was born December 8, 1941 in Kite, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Blanton O. Garrett and Christine Garrett. He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Georgia and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member and a deacon of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Garrett passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Estelle Duggan Garrett of Kite, two sons, James E. "Jimmy" (Erica) Garrett, Jr. of Dudley and Jeremy L. (Kimberly) Garrett of Kite, a brother, John (Ann) Garrett of Kite and five grandchildren, James E. "Tripp" Garrett, III, Jiles Garrett, Jennings Garrett, Ellee Garrett and Maddee Garrett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mark Crosby, George Milligan, Jerry Howell, Danny Underwood, Charles McDaniel and Mark Caneega. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
