Funeral services for James "J.D." Deward Brown, age, 90 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jay Moore and Mr. Ted Jarriel will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born July 18, 1928 in McRae, Georgia. He was the son of the late James Mercer and Betty Browning Brown. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Brown and Hildred Persur. He served in the United States Navy during WWII where received the WWII Victory Metal. He introduced Western Square Dancing to Middle and South Georgia. He was a retired Laurens County Extension Agent for the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. He was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Mr. Brown passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife, Ouida Brown of Dublin, a son, Gary (Judy) Brown of Irwinton, a sister, Orea Pitts of Panama City, FL, a grandchild, Lydia Brown, and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be retired and active Extension Agents for the University of Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the funeral home.
