James "Jim" DeFauw age 83 passed away on August 12, 2018. He was born to the late Henry and Martha DeFauw in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Marine Corps. Reservist from 1955 to 1961. He was a carpenter since he was a teenager. He re-modeled and built (works of art) for many of the people in Dublin. He became known as a perfectionist.
He was married for 63 years to his loving wife, Barbara of Dublin. They had 2 children, William DeFauw of Charleston, SC, and Christine (Joey) Mimbs of Dublin. He was a grandfather to 3 girls, Brittany (Brian) Theel, Katheryn and Miranda Mimbs. He was a great-grandfather to 2 boys, Waylon and Finley Theel.
Jim loved life. He especially loved golf, bowling, and building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He met many friends doing what he loved to do.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He joined The Knights of Columbus and had been a member of the Men's Club, an Usher, and a Eucharistic Minister.
He is survived by a sister Jo-Ann (Ron) Buehler, and a brother, David (Shelia) DeFauw,.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2018 with a Rosary starting at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with interment to follow at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Father Stephen J. Pontzer and Father Jacob N. Almeter will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mr. DeFauw to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 1559 Highway 441 North, Dublin, GA 31021 or to Serenity Place at 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, GA 31021.
