James "Jimmy" Elery Garrett, Jr.

Funeral services for James "Jimmy" Elery Garrett, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Dudley Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Dexter Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Stanley Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Jimmy was born on August 11, 1977, in Macon, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his father, James E. Garrett, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Erica Gaillard Garrett; his three sons, James E. Garrett III (Tripp), Jiles Eugene, and Jennings Eli.

Also surviving are his mother, Estelle Duggan Garrett; brother, Jeremy (Kimberly) Garrett and nieces, Ellee and Maddee Garrett. Survivors also include aunt, Sharon (Doug) Cawthon; uncles, Mark (Veronica) Duggan, and John (Ann) Garrett.

Jimmy graduated from Camden High School in Camden, South Carolina in 1995. He attended Brewton Parker College and Middle Georgia State University. He was an active member of Dudley Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Student Ministry Life Group leader and assisted with technology. He was employed with Farmers Furniture as an IT Specialist. He enjoyed coaching Upward basketball and assisting with the Dudley Little League program.

Jimmy passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Rev. Matt Greene, Dr. Billy Daws, Rev. Clint Crozier, Rev. Thomas Wicker, and Rev. Josh Meadows will conduct the services. Pallbearers include Chris Stephens, Dennis Howell, Jason Locke, Roge Williams, Brian Brown, Jody Pollock, Clark Dailey, and Dr. Lee Collier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Gay, Foy Williamson, Spence Lovett, Chad Mosley, Kyle Williams, Josh Thomas, Nate Achord, Moose Hodges, Mike Wilson, and Dr. Tracy Gay.

A fund has been established at the Bank of Dudley for Tripp, Jiles, and Jennings – "The Garrett Boys".

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements. To
