James Calvin Jones

Funeral services for James Calvin Jones, age 88, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Buckhorn Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Will Walley will officiate.

Mr. Jones was born on March 13, 1936, in Wilkinson County, Georgia and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was resident of Laurens County for the last 28 years and retired after 30 years as a maintenance technician with Central State Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson Chatfield Jones and Lila Mae Wicker; his sisters, Sara Ross of Augusta and Nell Whidby of Haddock; a brother, Danny Joe Jones from Milledgeville; and his son, Troy Beck of Sandersville. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting in his early days. He has been blessed and he loved the Lord. Mr. Jones passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Atrium Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Wright Jones; two sons, Wade Jones (Jill) of Madison, Bruce Jones (Marie) of Davisboro; brother, Edward Jones of Milledgeville; sister, Helen Edmonds of Milledgeville; six grandchildren, Brandon, Cheryl, Jodi, Corey, Trent and Kyle; five great grandchildren, Jayden, Ashe, Bryleigh, Elexis and Saydee.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory.
