James Neil Mullis

Funeral services for James Neil Mullis, age 72 will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Russell Horne will officiate.

Mr. Mullis was born November 20, 1952, in Chester, Georgia. He was the son of the late Aaron "Son" Alton Mullis and Bertha Powell Mullis. He was a graduate of Dudley High School. He was a member of Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired skidder operator for Wade Payne Logging. He also farmed for Gene Cannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 33 years, Sharon B. Mullis and 8 siblings. Mr. Mullis passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Mullis is survived by his wife, Merle Mullis; 2 daughters, Vicky Hall and Leigh Ann Mullis; a stepson, Jo Jo Leach; 3 stepdaughters, Laura Leach, Angie Leach, and Sherri Leach; 5 sisters, Melba Purser, Oneida Smith, Ouida Roland, Debra Holland, and Sheila Evans; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chandler Mullis, Trevor Spigner, Grayson Toler, Wes Creamer, Ryan Creamer, and Justin Meacham.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. Sunday, May 25, at the church prior the funeral service.
