Private funeral services for Mr. James Redding Thompson, age 85, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with Rev. L.T. Logue, Rev. Roy Thompson, and Rev. Jimmy Wright officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born on October 9, 1935 in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late Harvey and Mattie Mae Rowland Thompson. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Helen Smith Thompson, his siblings, Herman Thompson and Blanche Smith, and his grandchildren, Chris Thompson, and Tina Turner Goss. Mr. Thompson was a retired diesel mechanic with Graham Brothers Construction. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene and the Breakfast Club. Mr. Thompson passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Fairview Park Hospital.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Naomi Thompson of Adrian, his children, Randy (Amy) Thompson of Dublin, Susan Foskey of Adrian, and Sandy (Jimmy) Turner of Clarksville, brothers, Roy Thompson of Adrian, Marvin Thompson of Wrightsville, and Carl Thompson of Dublin, sister, Doris Peace of Adrian, grandchildren, Casey Mimbs, Ryan Cheek, Michael Thompson, Lisa Clark, Misty Foskey, Austin Turner, Kent Foskey, Michael Turner, Krystal Phasavang, and Harley Turner, 24 great-grandchildren ,12 great great-grandchildren and his four legged companion, Rascal.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. at the church prior to the service. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory staff ask that all in attendance to follow mandated social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Chris Thompson Foundation, 925 W. Tanglewood Dr., Dublin, GA 31021 or at Community Bank of Dublin.
Pallbearers will be Michael Thompson, Austin Turner, Harley Turner, Kent Foskey, Jordan Morris, Aydan McLeod, Michael Turner, and the late Chris Thompson.
