Funeral services Mr. James Thomas Tingle, Jr., age 82, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Chad Waller will officiate.
Mr. Tingle was born March 23, 1936 in the Pringle Community of Washington County; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late James Thomas Tingle, Sr. & Selma Alice Duggan Tingle. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired as a truck driver. Being a truck driver afforded James the opportunity to travel all over the United States and it was through those travels that enabled him to pass information to the next generation through his art of storytelling. James also was an avid fisherman and he took advantage of every free moment he had by spending countless hours on the banks of the family pond.
Mr. Tingle passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Tingle of Lizella, his children, Kenneth Tingle of Pringle, Darrell Tingle of Eastman, Jamey Tingle of Lizella, Joey Tingle of Macon and Sherry Jo Roberts of Wrightsville, three stepchildren, Darren Roberts of Lilburn, Tonia McDermott of Warner Robins and Brandi Roberts of Warner Robins, a sister, Betty Jean Tingle Waller of Wrightsville and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will return to the church immediately following the committal service to receive friends.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
